Users in Indonesia spent an average of 5.7 hours a day on mobile apps in 2022, the highest amongst countries surveyed by data.ai. Compared to 2021, they spent an increased amount of time and money on entertainment apps, particularly short videos. Young people aged 18-24 in particular spent more time on social media and photo and video editing apps than the population as a whole.
Mobile games are popular among Indonesian users, making up four of the top 10 grossing apps in 2022. Spend on mobile games grew by $110 million between 2019 and 2022 while downloads increased by 1.4 billion.

4G coverage has reached around 97 percent of the country, but only around 15 percent of the population has access to the 5G network. There have also been issues with a shortage of mobile spectrum in both urban and rural areas.
