Health and Safety Manager Job at Compass Group – Newmarket

Jockey Club Catering was formed in 2009 to provide outstanding catering, hospitality and customer service at all of The Jockey Club’s racecourses nationwide and has a portfolio of 15 racecourses delivering catering to over 333 race days a year.

Jockey Club Catering delivers exceptional race day experiences through great people; and amazing customer service and providing ‘Legendary Experiences’ to all our customers at our event days.

As our H&S Manager you will ensure that the Jockey Club Catering contracts operate safely and sustainably year round.

You will complete compliance and concession checks to create a consistent standard of excellence across the racecourses including following up with the concessions to keep track of high and low level performance.

Support and assist in rolling out compass and Levy campaigns and maintain the ISO 9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 accreditation requirements.

You will provide expertise and technical support to enable the catering team to meet and exceed the required regulatory, corporate and accreditation requirements relating to Health& Safety, Food Safety, Quality and the Environment across the range of services.

Liaise with other health and safety, environment and quality professionals within the wider business to achieve the above objectives in such a way that ensures we have a consistent approach across the wider contracts operated.

Main Responsibilities

Define and agree HSE auditing programme ensuring it is developed and delivered.

Co-ordination of Risk Management and Design and Construction Core Signatures.

Delivery of reactive and/or proactive interventions as required by reported incidents or new information.

Liaise with other health and safety, environment and quality professionals within the wider business to achieve the above objectives in such a way that ensures we have a consistent approach.

Ensure the safe and secure operation of all operational activities on behalf of all stakeholders.

Lead the managers and teams in ensuring the hygiene, safety and environmental management systems are communicated; clearly understood; accessible; and implemented to meet the requirements of the relevant standards.

Coordinate the implementation of these standards via agreed implementation plans.

Working to ensure legal compliance across all racecourses.

Annual Silver Standard auditing and support visits of all Jockey Club Catering racecourses.

To investigate incidents and implement improvements and liaise with enforcement bodies.

To provide training, support, mentoring and coaching to frontline teams and senior managers.

Ideal Candidate

Prior Safety or Environmental Health Experience

Strong compliance driven personality

Ability to self-manage and organise

Auditing and/or Food Safety Inspection Experience

Strong IT skills.

Quality/ISO Auditing Qualification or significant experience

Senior stake holder management experience

NEBOSH Certificate

Compliance driven

Training qualification
